Join the Rivers Project at Lock and Dam 24 in Clarksville Missouri on January 29th and 30th to celebrate the return of the beloved annual event, Clarksville Eagle Days!
For this special event, Park Rangers and USACE volunteers will be leading free, public tours of Lock and Dam 24, a truly unique experience as this engineering feat is rarely open to the public! Visitors will be able to tour the historic structure, walk across the lock to the top of the tainter gates, and get a stunning view of the Mississippi River at the height of eagle season!
Tours times will vary throughout the weekend and require sign-up:
Saturday 1/29: 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, 3:30
Sunday 1/30: 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, 2:30
Visitors must sign-up for tours prior to tour time at the Clarksville Apple Shed Center, the main event space for Eagle Days.
Tour Tips:
– Best suited for ages 10+
– Time Length: 30-45 minutes
– 15 Registrants/tour – Sign-up early!
– Tour is not accessible – requires a trip up ~50 stairs, uneven surfaces, etc.
– Temperatures may be frigid and windy – dress appropriately!
Clarksville Eagle Days will be headquartered at the Apple Shed (702 S 2nd St, Clarksville, MO 63336) where visitors can enjoy live eagle shows, vendors, crafts, and movies. Park Rangers and naturalists will also be aiding visitors look for bald eagles using high powered spotting scopes at the Clarksville Riverfront Park.
