Every year the National Great Rivers Museum introduces youth and adults to the wonders of the Mississippi River here at Alton and the workings of the Melvin Price Lock and Dam.
The programs and exhibits at the National Great Rivers Museum are funded through donations to the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation. If you wish to donated to the Foundation you can donate in person at the museum; by phone by calling the museum at 618-462-6979 and donate with a major credit card; or by mail to Meeting of the Rivers Foundation PO Box 337 Alton, IL 62002.

We know that the National Great Rivers Museum and the Melvin Price Lock and Dam are fantastic places visit any time of year but not everyone knows about them. Here are a few ways you can help us spread the word:
Many of our out of town visitors tell us they read about us on travel sites like tripadvisor.
Use the link t the left to write a review about the museum and even leave a picture from your visit.

Also watch for event listings that are posted there and like and share them as well.
Next time you are at the museum, take a picture by one of the exhibits or on the top of the dam on the tour and post it to our Instagram or Twitter page. The links to the right and left will take you to the Museums Twitter and Instagram Pages. If you are posting to your account, remember to use @NGRM in your post!
Lastly and most importantly, tell your friends about the museum or better yet bring them yourself!
You can also let your children’s or grandchildren’s teachers know that the museum is available for field trips and for special events or if you have a religious, civic or social group that is looking for a place for a special outing, recommend us to them.
